How to download a free Ubigi eSIM on iPad?

To download a Ubigi eSIM, first, make sure that you have downloaded the app and created your account in step 1.

Then, you’ll be prompted to configure settings in your iPad.

Choose your first data plan

Select “Tablet” as device to be connected


Confirm that you have no QR code to scan

Tap “No” and “No”

Tap “INSTALL MY FREE eSIM NOW”

Go through the tutorial screen by screen, then tap on “Install now” to start the process and configure the installation of your Ubigi eSIM.

“Activate eSIM” screen: eSIM installation process is about to start, tap “Continue” to confirm.

Then again “Add Data Plan” to approve the activation of Ubigi eSIM (Ubigi is a service of Transatel). ​

Ubigi eSIM data plans work on eSIM-enabled and network unlocked devices.

To check if your device is eSIM compatible, follow these steps:​

Dial *#06#. If you have an EID code on the screen, your phone is eSIM compatible.

To check if your iPhone/iPad is locked or unlocked by your provider, follow these steps:​

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select General.
  • Choose About/Information.
  • Scroll down to Network provider lock/Carrier lock. You will see either "No SIM restrictions" or "SIM restricted" in this field. Check here what to do if you have "SIM restricted".

To check if your Android device is locked or unlocked, please contact your original carrier. (You can also test using a different carrier in your home country, which is usually not possible with a SIM-locked device)
