In Japan with 2 teenage kids....
Been in Japan now for 4 days and coverage in Tokyo has been amazing. Have also been hotspotting to my 2 teenagers, with no lag on either ends. In Kawaguchiko now and still have great network coverage. Very impressed so far!

Worked well in different states
It was easy to navigate and it worked in both areas we visited in the states. However in some areas the signals were weak, the internet connection felt slow. Though, I’m happy with the price and the connectivity overall.

Great service for a good price!
After searching the internet for great but affordable mobile e-sim providers I came across ubigi and after reading reviews about it on Reddit and other sites I was sold. And i can tell you it worked great. I added it a week before I left to Japan to my phone and it automatically activated when I arrived in the targeted country, which is very handy! The reception is great anywhere I went mostly larger cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto but also Kanazawa and Koyasan worked great with mostly 5G reception. There were a few times I had to wait maybe 10sec to get a better internet connection but it was never an issue. I got 10gb for 2,5 weeks and I had 2,6gb left. So you don't need that much data if you just use it for some texting, surfing web, maps and gpt usage. My girlfriend did have more issues with the same package but in a Samsung S20. We don't know why.. but in the end it mostly worked fine for her too. So I can easily recommend Ubigi and will use it next time too!

Used in Japan
Used in Japan, great connection 99% of the time as their network is very vast in size and coverage area is huge. Great prices overall I used the 10gb just incase, as I was not sure how much GB I would be using for GPS and other navigation stuff while getting around Tokyo. Travelled up to Sapporo and then visited family middle of Hokkaido. Was a bit tricky at first to get it running so anyone who uses this you really need to check the instructions on the steps to follow to guide you through the process.

How to check if a device is ready for eSIM?
Check eSIM compatibility

Smartphones & Cellular Tablets:

Dial (*#06#). If an EID number shows, your device supports eSIM!

Laptops (Windows 10/11):

Open your flyout (bottom-right corner). If Cellular settings are visible, your laptop supports eSIM!

Check Carrier Unlock

On iOS:

Go to Settings > General > About, scroll to Carrier Lock. If it says "No SIM restrictions", your device is unlocked!

On Android:

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network, turn off Auto network selection. If you see multiple available networks, your device is unlocked! If only one appears, or you get an error, it may be locked.
