Great experience in Japan
Good price, good performance for our travels in Japan, easy to set up. Seemed to work best with regular sim switched off. In practice I only needed a fraction of the capacity as mostly used for WhatsApp messages, emails, Google Maps and Google Translate (total usage 3.5GB over 15 days).

Very helpful app and support team
Very helpful app and support team. I tried Ubigi twice. The first time, I bought a package but had a problem with my phone carrier, so I couldn’t use the eSIM. I contacted the Ubigi support team and received a full refund after a few days. The second time, after solving the eSIM issue, everything worked very well. The signal and coverage were excellent, and the package prices were amazing. Highly recommended!

Ubigi started functioning in our aircraft before we walked into airport. We were concerned we could not use the GO taxi app because we did not have a local Japan phone. However our UBER app has worked great proof we did not require a local Japan number.

How to check eSIM compatibility

Smartphones / Tablets:

Dial *#06#.
→ If an EID number appears, your device is eSIM-compatible.

Windows 10 / 11:

Press Windows+I.
Go to “Network & Internet”
→ If you see "Cellular", your PC is eSIM-compatible.

How to check carrier unlocking

iPhone / iPad:

Go to Settings > General > About.
Scroll to Carrier Lock.
→ If you see “No SIM restrictions”, your device is unlocked.

Android:

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network.
Disable Automatic network selection.
→ If multiple networks appear, your device is unlocked.
