The Ubigi esim was fine, but unfortunately my phone with the esim died on my 2nd day in Japan so I am unable to use the data I bought.

Ubigi, saving a fortune in data costs
I opted to get an eSim from Ubigi after a little search via Google and review sites. The main reason is that I was visiting Japan and for a daily pass with EE was about £8 per day to use upto 500Mb of data!! I was due to be in Japan for 4 days, so potentially £32 for a small amount of data. I got a 5Gb allowance for £8 and that would be available for 30 days or until it ran out. In 3 days I have used 484Mb of data, using it each day, so I overdid it with the amount of data bought, but it still would have been the full cost per day with EE! Next time I will buy less data and it will make using Ubigi even better value.

How to check eSIM compatibility

Smartphones / Tablets:

Dial *#06#.
→ If an EID number appears, your device is eSIM-compatible.

Windows 10 / 11:

Press Windows+I.
Go to “Network & Internet”
→ If you see "Cellular", your PC is eSIM-compatible.

How to check carrier unlocking

iPhone / iPad:

Go to Settings > General > About.
Scroll to Carrier Lock.
→ If you see “No SIM restrictions”, your device is unlocked.

Android:

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network.
Disable Automatic network selection.
→ If multiple networks appear, your device is unlocked.

You already have an eSIM in your cart.

Each order can only include one eSIM data plan.

If you choose to add a new one, the current plan will be removed. What would you like to do?
