Prior to departure
Install your eSIM and make sure to disconnect from Cellular Data.
Upon arrival
Switch on your Cellular Data to enable your eSIM to connect at destination.
Back home
Switch off your Cellular Data and restore usual settings.

Good alternative -- low cost
This was a low cost option without having to change my phone number or get a new one while travelling for three weeks in Ireland/Scotland. Worked exactly as I needed with data. I set up a Viber account to text with my family. I found I had data in many locations in the Highlands of Scotland that I didn't think I would have any bars...so was quite happy with the first try. Will use again...

Dashboard is easy and intuitive. Very clear to see how much data you are using. Process was very straightforward and I say that as someone who has never done an eSIM before. I got burned on my last trip with my US carrier and now I won’t travel any other way. Only glitch, which is why I haven’t given it 5stars is because I had a discount code, applied it, it showed the amount that would be deducted, but the. It didn’t actually deduct the amount. Because the amount was minor, I didn’t follow up.

How to check eSIM compatibility
Smartphones / Tablets:
Dial *#06#. → If an EID number appears, your device is eSIM-compatible.
Windows 10 / 11:
Press Windows+I. Go to “Network & Internet” → If you see "Cellular", your PC is eSIM-compatible.
How to check carrier unlocking
iPhone / iPad:
Go to Settings > General > About. Scroll to Carrier Lock. → If you see “No SIM restrictions”, your device is unlocked.
Android:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network. Disable Automatic network selection. → If multiple networks appear, your device is unlocked.
You already have an eSIM in your cart.
Each order can only include one eSIM data plan.
