Estimating the data plan allowance that you may need while traveling or being on-the-go is actually a tricky question because it highly depends on each individual Internet usage.
The best approach we have found so far is categorizing typical internet use and estimating from there what different activities you can do with 1GB allowance as a reference.
What great stuff can you do with 1GB of data allowance in a day while being on-the-go?*
* Upload 150 photos or videos on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat TikTok * Send 500 instant messages with WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype * Stream 2 hours of music from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music * Stream videos on YouTube for 1/2hours * Play your favorite online games for 1 hour
What can you do with 1GB of data allowance in a day while traveling for work?*
* Send 500 e-mails * Surf the Web for 10 hours * Make VoIP calls during 5 hours with WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger, Google Hangouts, etc. * Use your favorite GPS navigation apps for 2 hours (Waze, Google Maps, HERE WeGo, etc.) * Stream music for 1 hour from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer, etc.
*Examples based on the average data usage observed for a standard consumption of Internet and similar applications in a day

Once sorted out, Ubigi eSim worked well
This was our first time using Ubigi and it was a bit complicated to get it up and working on our iPhones (a 13 and a 14). The parameters that need changing seemed to be all over the place — in the app, in app settings and in cellular settings. Perhaps we just didn't trust the app enough ... who knows? Once we got Ubigi eSim working it worked very well — we were constantly connected to the internet making it easy to get and send email and message each other on our iPhones. It was frustrating not to be able to text message non-iPhones. Here's a question: How does one pronounce Ubigi?

Good plan covering all 7 countries I…
Good plan covering all 7 countries I wanted to visit, including Laos and Cambodia. App is a bit clunky and logging in wouldn't work at all when i had a VPN enabled. When moving between my one-time 10 GB plan onto the recurring 5 GB plan I had there was a loss of connection for 10 or so minutes. Data coverage was sometimes patchy, so not a perfect mix of netork providers in this region, but broadly pretty good.

How to check eSIM compatibility
Smartphones / Tablets:
Dial *#06#. → If an EID number appears, your device is eSIM-compatible.
Windows 10 / 11:
Press Windows+I. Go to “Network & Internet” → If you see "Cellular", your PC is eSIM-compatible.
How to check carrier unlocking
iPhone / iPad:
Go to Settings > General > About. Scroll to Carrier Lock. → If you see “No SIM restrictions”, your device is unlocked.
Android:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network. Disable Automatic network selection. → If multiple networks appear, your device is unlocked.
You already have an eSIM in your cart.
Each order can only include one eSIM data plan.
If you choose to add a new one, the current plan will be removed. What would you like to do?
