What models will be available in the iPhone 17 series?
Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, maintaining its traditional fall release schedule. The lineup is expected to include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new ultra-thin model, potentially named the iPhone 17 Air. Pre-orders are likely to commence shortly after the announcement, with the official release following in key markets such as the United States, Canada, and major European countries. Availability in other regions is expected to roll out progressively in the subsequent weeks. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is advisable to monitor Apple’s official communications and website.
Will the iPhone 17 be eSIM-Only?
By removing the physical SIM slot, the iPhone 17 Air would rely solely on eSIM for cellular connectivity.
This move aligns with Apple’s gradual shift towards only eSIM-compatible adoption, which began in the United States with the iPhone 14 series.
But there could be issues in several markets globally, like China, where the sales of iPhone are already down by like 10 to 12%; the country currently does not promote phones that only support eSIM, which could impact the iPhone 17 Air’s availability in this key market.
What will it be the new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air model?
The iPhone 17 Air will be Apple’s latest ultra-thin smartphone, measuring just 5.5mm in thickness will be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date. Equipped with a 6.6-inch OLED display featuring ProMotion technology for up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by the A19 chip and 8GB of RAM, and includes a single 48MP rear camera and a 24MP front camera. Designed for innovation, the iPhone 17 Air exclusively supports eSIM technology.

Save Your Time and Get Ubigi's eSim.
My friends & I went to Japan again. I decided to try out Ubigi eSim this time while my friends went with with using a pocket WiFi again. So I could give you a few comparisons between the two on our trip. First off, I was able to activate and use my connection once we landed. My friends had to pick up their pocket WiFi at the airport in order to get connection. Throughout the trip, I had more space in my bag while my friends had to carry their pocket WiFi around. I also noticed that my friends had the inconvenience to charge their pocket WiFi once in a while whenever we are on the go. I didn't have to worry about that.
I was speculative about using an eSim because Reddit users talked about losing connection in certain areas. I didn't have that trouble. I did notice some areas where I had LTE but my connection was still strong. I was able to call, text, and use the internet all around. I did notice my battery dies faster but I'm not sure if it was because of the eSIM or because I used my phone a lot.
Overall, I highly recommend Ubigi's eSim. I'm sure my friends will transfer over to an eSim the next time we travel to Japan.

Need to update your GPS
Need to update your GPS. Booking pick-up at the wrong number. The car waiting at few yards away from pickup address. It’s not helpful when you have difficulty to walk. Over charged by 2/3 of the fair display on the selected.

Solid
Solid. I used Ubigi in Tokyo, Japan for 7 days and it worked as well as I expected. There were some moments where I could not get a connection but they were few and far between. Solid. 4/5

I’m so impressed and was so relieved…
I’m so impressed and was so relieved to be able to get online. It meant I was able to do my emails while in South Africa. Plus access to 5G baby 🤩. The speed was insane 😁. I was really pleased after being disappointed that my network Three doesn’t give what they say they would on my contract. Ubigi came to the rescue. Thank you 🙏🏾

Easy, simple, good value
Very clear instructions, user friendly, and very simple. Loved how the eSim was automatically added to my phone and I just had to turn it on, and my primary eSim off. Good value for my week in Japan where having data and using the Translate app was essential.
